A passerby alerted police about a suitcase that was found on the third floor of Korinza Mall in Okinawa City, in the afternoon of Apr. 22. Police ordered the evacuation of 110 people from the building. Surrounding roads were blocked as well.

The Okinawa City Police bomb squad confirmed the suitcase was not a bomb later the same day. According to Okinawa City Police and Fire Department, they were also able to locate the owner of the suitcase.

Okinawa Police say they received a call informing there was a suspicious suitcase on the 3rd floor, where Hello-Work public employment office is located. The unemployed owner of the suitcase who is in his 40s said, “I just forgot it.”
