A man on a motor scooter snatched the purse of a 19-year-old female student in Izumizaki, Naha, on Tuesday evening.

According to Naha Police the student was returning home from her part-time job walking on the road side of the street sidewalk about 10:20 p.m. when a man on a motor scooter approached her from behind, grabbed her handbag that contained ¥6,000 in cash, and rode away. The woman was not injured.

Naha Police are investigating. According to the victims’ relatives, the scooter was dark colored. The robber was alone and wearing dark clothes.

There has been several similar purse snatching incidents in Naha recently. Police suspect that the culprit might be the same person, but have so far not been able to establish a connection.
