Man killed in apartment fire

Neighbors reported a fire on the first floor of a two-story concrete apartment building in Shuri, Naha City, Monday morning.

Naha Fire Department dispatched 12 fire trucks to the scene, and the fire was put out in about 30 minutes. Examining the apartment after the fire, the firefighters found a male in his 50s inside. The man was in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest and was taken to a hospital, where he died an hour later. The fire did not spread to other parts of the building, and nobody else was injured.

According to Naha Fire Department, the fire occurred in a one-room apartment and only a part of the room had been on fire. Bed mattress, clothing and newspaper had caught fire, and the man was found lying on the floor of his shower room. The man had no external injuries on his body.
