The zoo’s Indian Elephant Ryuka, who’s expecting her first baby, is ready to greet her fans during the Golden Wek.

Over the four days, performances of children dancing Okinawa dances and modern dancing will take place, and there will be comedians giving the audience a laugh.  Live music of various Okinawan bands is spread across the four days, as well. On Monday, there will be a family karaoke contest.

The Okinawa Zoo Wonder Museum, a facility located on the premises of Okinawa City Children’s Land, has been remodeled to mark the 10th anniversary of its opening. The opening ceremony for the renewed facility was held Saturday. The new features include see-and-touch exhibitions and a corner with a variety of workshops.

The Wonder Museum is designed to be a participation-and-experience facility that combines play and science to provide experiences for children in order to stimulate their intellectual curiosity.
