A carcass of a two-meter long Fraser’s dolphin was found on Jun. 11, on the shore of Kyan, in Itoman City.

A local resident taking a walk on the beach around 9 a.m. discovered the dead animal. According to local residents, “This is the first time in our memory that a dead dolphin has washed up ashore here.”

In the afternoon of the same day, the dolphin carcass was taken to the Okinawa Churashima Foundation facility in Motobu for an autopsy to determine the cause of its death.
