Eight people reported having suffered heatstroke

Okinawa Department of Public Health and Medical Care announced Thursday that eight people in the prefecture have been reported having suffered a heatstroke between Jun. 8th and 14th.

Most of the victims were in their teens and had the heatstroke while exercising, two in their 20s worked at a construction site. One 30-year-old victim suffered the heatstroke while exercising indoors, and another in his 50s was on a construction site. A patient in his 70s was reported to have suffered a heatstroke while in his house.

Okinawa Meteorological Observatory issued a warning on Jun. 19th for unusually high temperatures to begin from the 21st and continuing through Jul. 3rd. The observatory is encouraging people to take precautions.
