Friends goat dishes have a reason to rejoice as the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to remove restrictions that prohibited the sale of large and small intestines of goats over 12 months of age, although the accurate date of lifting the ban is yet to be decided.

The restriction was enacted in 2002 as a countermeasure against the bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), when it was obligated for all goat intestines to be thrown away.

Hija (goat) food lovers are eagerly waiting for the restrictions to go away and say, “With the intestines, the soup becomes richer and 100% more delicious.”

The date of ending the ban will be decided after consultations and risk evaluations with the Food Safety Commission.
