Halal beef to go to market in Okinawa
Meat marketing company Gyuan in Itoman City announced Wednesday that it had signed a contract to become the general agent in Okinawa for a U.S brand frozen beef sales company, which is certified as approved distributor of Wagyu Beef, Daikokuzengyu and Halal foods.
According to Gyan officials, they plan to distribute the halal meat In the near future to local hotels and yakiniku restaurants. Okinawa has recently seen a surge in the number of tourists from Asian Muslim countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, and that has created a demand for halal foods.
Gyan’s future plans include establishing a meat processing plant on Okinawa by 2017.
