Local gasoline prices up eight weeks in row

The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced Wednesday that the average retail price of one liter of regular gasoline in Japan has increased ¥0.40 to 167 yen on average.

This marks the 8th week in a row for the price to increase to its highest level in 5 years and 9 months. In Okinawa the price of regular gasoline increased by ¥0.30 to ¥165 per liter on average.

According to the investigation by the Oil Information Center, the main reason for the increase is the unstable supply.
