Naha City Police arrested 55-year-old Tomio Miyako, Wednesday, on suspicion of driving without a license, and colliding with another vehicle, and then fleeing the site of the accident.

When questioned, Miyako said, “I don’t recall the incident” and is denying the charges.

According to Naha Police, Miyako was driving his car Tuesday evening with his 82-year-old mother on the back seat on Highway 330 trying to make a right turn towards Tsuboya in Naha City when he crashed into an oncoming vehicle. Although his mother suffered injuries in the accident, he left her in the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The 49-year-old driver of the other car also suffered slight injuries.
