Miyako Island’s Rock Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary Saturday and Sunday, and major musical groups are on hand to promote it.

Doors open at Miyako Coastal Vista Resort in the Turiba district of Hirara at noon, and the festival kicks off at 1 p.m.  District map: https://goo.gl/maps/GQ0ao.

Miyako Island Rock Festival is an all family affair.

Advance admission is ¥6,000, or ¥7,000 at the door.  Students are ¥4,000.

This year’s tenth anniversary theme is “Save the sea, save the sky”, and many of Okinawa’s top artists are performing at the festival sponsored by the Miyako Island Rock Festival Committee. On stage will be Kariyushi58, MONGOL800, Shounannokaze, 10-Feet, The CRO-MAGNONS, Ketsumeishi, Dragon Ash and many, many more.

The opening act will be NoVA, a local Miyako band chosen by the MIRF Committee to perform. The Miyako Costal Vista Resort Site is the concert venue although the resort itself is still under construction.
