Seal spotted off Tokashiki
A seal native to the northern seas was observed and captured on camera off Tokashiki Island on Tuesday.
35-year-old Kazuhiro Tamaki and 32-year-old Hayato Nakamura from the Tokashiki Fishermen’s Cooperative had gone for a lookout for rabbitfish to the island’s southernmost part “Unsoshiru” about 8:30 am when they spotted the seal. They said later that they couldn’t believe their eyes when witnessed the presence of a seal in the Okinawan sea.
According to officials at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, this is the first time a seal has been caught on camera anywhere in Okinawa.
