Okinawa Zoo provides education, excitement for kids’ vacation

Starting Jul. 19th and continuing throughout the local schools’ summer vacation through the end of Aug., Okinawa Zoo & Museum is keeping its gates open every Saturday until 9 p.m.

The zoo held a special event, “Ghost Museum,” on the night of Jul 19th with feeding the animals and horseback riding available to visitors. That created a “different atmosphere from day time” at the zoo, said a staff member, inviting all to experience excitement of the night zoo.

There will also be an Eisa and Drum Festival at the zoo that takes place on the weekend of Aug. 2nd and 3rd. A one-night camping experience event “Zoo Camp” is scheduled for a week later on Aug. 7th and again on the 14th.

And as if that is not enough, a workshop called “Let’s make snow” held by OIST, is scheduled for Aug. 26 starting 2 p.m.
