San-A is starting work of expanding and upgrading its San-A Main Place shopping mall in Omoromachi, Naha City. The work is scheduled to begin on Jul. 22nd.

According to the plan, the shopping space in the mall will increase by 15.6 percent to a total of 37,000 sq. meters. The construction scheduled to be complete by July 2015. This is the first upgrade and expansion in the mall since its opening in 2002.

The expansion would cover the space that is currently used mainly for events located just across the street from the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum. The first and second floor are to be shopping space, and floors 3~6 will be additional parking space.

After the expansion, the number of parking slots will increase by more than 150. A part of the second floor is designed as a space for holding events.
