Itoman ready for Sea & Summer Festival

Kids compete in fish catching.

It’s the biggest festival of the year in Itoman, with three festival events all being lumped into the same set of venues this weekend.

There’s definitely something for everyone at this 26th Itoman Furusato Festival and 16th Eisa Festival, which brings together eisa shows, a dance contest, and even hip-hop performances as organizers fill the weekend with fun, music, entertainment and competitions.  On top of the main events, there’s the Okinawa Haarii Festival and the Development of an Abundantly Productive Sea.  Admission is free for the festivals, which run throughout the days and evenings in the Itoman Port area near Southern Beach Hotel & Resort.  Fireworks round out the evenings both Saturday and Sunday at 8:55 p.m.

Eisa is part of the festival.

Itoman’s the only ocean city to do so many events, including the Haarii tournament, Tuna split up show (Maguro kaitai show) , fish catch up by hand tournament (Sakana tsukamidori) , Eisa shows and much more. Shows vary by event, but the festival starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends shortly after 9 p.m. after the fireworks. More than 1,000 fireworks will be launched over the two evenings.

On Saturday, look for live performers including Street Battle Zero, EXPG, RIDO HOT, and bicycle motocross.  On Sunday, Ivan, U-DOU & PLATY, and EISA entertain.  Meetings made with the southern rich sea start at noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday for fishing and sabani experiences, as well as sailing presentations.  The Haarii kicks off at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
