Kerama promotion office opens at Tomarin

Tokashiki and Zamami Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Association opened a Kerama Archipelago Tourism Information Center in the Okinawa Tourist Service (OTS) office on the 1st floor of Tomarin Building in Naha, Monday.

Kerama archipelago was designated as the newest National Park of Japan in March, and both villages teamed up to open a tourism promotion office with support from OTS. The office supports planning of tours to both islands, and distributes islands’ information. Coinciding with the opening of the office, OTS published a guide book “Tour of Kerama Archipelago,” which introduces tours and dive spots around Tokashiki, Zamami, Aka, and Geruma islands.

Division Chief Eiji Kuniyoshi of the Tokashiki Village Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Association said that until now, both villages have promoted themselves independent of each other but, “Now that the Kerama archipelago became a National Park and we decided t join forces and promote our tourism together.
