The Health and Longevity Division of Okinawa Prefectural Government announced, on Aug. 6^th, that they have identified a group infection of tuberculosis in the Yaeyama district.

According to division officials, there are one patient with tuberculosis and 16 confirmed cases of infections, as of July 24th. The original source of infection was traced to a man who was a hospitalized with a different disease in October 2013, and he was subsequently diagnosed with having tuberculosis this February.

Altogether 192 people were diagnosed with tuberculosis infections from January 2014 to August 6^th.
