Hyatt to open in Naha next May
The world famous hotel brand, Hyatt Hotels, is scheduled to open a hotel on next May at the site adjacent to Sakurazaka Theater in the Makishi area of Naha.
Ken Corporation, a high-class real estate consulting and management firm in Japan, is developing the site, and their group firm will manage the Hyatt once it opens. Ken Corporation started the construction of the hotel last April, and has been negotiating with possible subcontractors. The total site area is about 5,000 square meters. The building is 18 floors high.
Hyatt Hotels and Resorts is the world’s pre-eminent first-class hotel chain that runs more than 500 hotels all over the world. They are based in the United States, and have brands like Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency depending on customer segment and price range.
According to their homepage, Ken Corp. runs a high—class real estate sales and consulting business mainly in major cities in Japan. It consists of a real estate company, and its commercial facilities include a hotel owning company as an affiliate. Ken Corp. manages Sheraton, Hyatt and Hilton brands in Guam, and have a track record of managing six brands and 22 hotels, totally 6,400 rooms in Japan and overseas.
“Hyatt’s brand image is high in the world. This news that they come to a place other than mainland Japan metropolitan area makes a great impact. That means Okinawa is recognized as one of the international leisure venues,” says a Okinawa’s prefecture hotel promotion related staff member, adding “Okinawa’s hotel sector is expected to attract more foreign tourists in the future.”
