Okinawa chosen to host baseball All Star Game

Another first is on tap for Okinawa baseball lovers; the island has been selected as the venue for a special All Stars game on November 20th.

Word began leaking several months ago that the Major League Baseball Japan All-Star Series, a series of games between All-Star teams from North America’s Major League Baseball and Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball would take place in Japan in November.  On the heels of that, another report that Okinawa was in consideration as a venue.

Now, it’s official.  One of the exhibition games will be played here, a night game on November 20th at the Okinawa Cellular Stadium.  Details are still pending, including the time for the first pitch.

Koshien Baseball Stadium in Kobe, Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Sapporo Dome in Hokkaido and the Tokyo Dome are four other sites organizers have chosen for All Star games between players of the two leagues and countries.

Tickets for the game will go on sale Saturday at Lawson’s convenience stores. The premium reserved seat cost ¥10,000 including special commemorative item. Other seats are special reserved infield seats ¥8,000, reserved S-seats ¥6,500, reserved seats with Japan team uniform ¥7,500, excite seats ¥6,500, reserved A-seats ¥4,500, bleachers for adults ¥2,500 and bleachers for kids are ¥1,000.

Will there be any other way to procure tickets (like online). I’m out of the country and worry that by the time I get back the tickets will be sold out. Please advise. Thank you.
