Three teenage girls riding a  motorbike fell down after hitting a curb during a police chase in Miyahira, Haebaru, late Thursday night.

According to Yonabaru Police investigating the incident, all three, a 15-year-old unemployed gorl, a 16-year-old high school student and another 15-year-old unemployed girl suffered serious injuries with two of them suffering broken left wrists and the third a broken skull. None of the injuries are  life-threatening.

An offial at Okinawa Prefectural Police say that the procedures during the chase seem to have been appropriate. . “The distance between the patrol car and the motorbike and speed were appropriate. There was no problem about chasing them,” says Okinawa Prefectural Police official.

The reasons why the girls took off has yet to be established.
