Grit motorcycle shop caters to enthusiasts

Grit is located on Hwy 58 in Urasoe across from Blue Seal.

Street motorcycles, motocross bikes, off-road bikes and sports style motorcycles are all in demand to various clienteles in Okinawa, and Grit Motorcycle Shop in Urasoe City is filling needs and desires in each of the bike categories.

Grit sells motorbikes to suite every taste and purpose, from street racers to dirt bikes and everything in between. They also have a rental service.

Grit, located across from Blue Seal Ice Cream on Highway 58 is a major bike dealer, and the only shop on the island representing Triumph – a classic British motorcycle brand — as well as Yamaha and Honda.  While street bikes are very popular, Grit also carries a selection of off-road bikes including motocross and sports machines.

The decade-old motorcycle dealer is also strong in repairs to all brands of motorcycles, and provides a Motor Bike Rental Service for both foreigners and locals wanting to see Okinawa from a different driving perspective.  That’s why

Grit is the only dealer on Okinawa for the classic British Triumph motorcycles.

Hiroshi Kinjo, president of Grit, says customers “like sports-type motor bikes, and why we stage a motorcycling event every three months.”  Kinjo says the ‘thirties age group’ seems to be the demographic that’s really into motorcycling these days.

Basically, cash payments are the norm when someone buys a motor bike. However, Kinjo says purchasers can take out a loan through the AK Kogyo.  Kinjo, the president of Grit loves motorbikes. He says, “I want everybody to participate in motorcycling. Of course we are welcoming foreigners”.  Before starting Grit, he worked at a motorbike shop. He has been living with motorbikes for more than 20 years, and considers himself knowledgeable, even an expert on motorcycles. Kinjo says, “Many customers have already come to Grit, but I want foreign customers to visit our shop, too. We have English speaking staff available all the time”. Kinjo’s shop also provides emission tests for imported motorbikes.
