Marine arrested for ammo in luggage at Naha Airport
A 24 year-old marine lance corporal from Camp Foster was arrested on Oct. 3rd, on suspicion of violating of the Japanese Swords and Firearms Control Law.
According to Tomigusuku Police, the marine was found to have five rounds of ammunition in his luggage. When questioned by Tomigusuku Police, the marine explained, “I went hunting during my stay in the U.S. around Christmas season last year, and left the shots in my bag, and then forgot about it.” He admits to the charge.
A baggage checker at the airport found the cartridges in the marine’s bag when he was trying to board a flight to Osaka.
