Okinawa City athlete wins four medals in Asia Paralympics

Hirokazu Ueyonabaru from Okinawa City won a gold medal in the men’s 800-meter wheel chair track and field event at the Asia Paralympics in Yingshoeng in Korea, Oct. 23rd. In addition to winning the gold medal, Ueyonabaru set the new Asia record with his time of 2 minutes and 09.82 seconds.

On the day before, Ueyonabaru won silver in 100, 200, and 400-meter races. Thus, he won a medal in all four races he participated.  Ueyonabaru won his gold medal on in his first try since he switched to middle and short track events from marathon that he used to compete in before
