A passerby called the Tomigusuku Police emergency number Tuesday afternoon reporting a human body floating in Kokuba River in Tomigusuku.

A rescue team dispatched to the scene pulled a woman’s body from the river, and took her to a hospital where she was confirmed dead. Police are now investigating reports of any incident or accident that could be connected to the body.

According to Police and rescue officials, the body that was found floating near the Toyomi Bridge seems to be a female around 40 years of age, and had a 6 ~ 7-cm-long scar on the head. Investigators add that based on the body’s condition, it does not seem to have been in the river for a long time.
