Chura Sun Beach illumination leads to countdown

Elaborate illuminations frame the Chura Sun Beach year end countdown event.

Santa’s made his appearance, and now Chura Sun Beach is using its illumination as the prelude to the New Year’s countdown on December 31st.

The event includes fireworks at midnight as the year changes.

The Chura Sun Beach illumination highlight is a 100 meters-long tunnel with lighting, running through New Year’s Eve.  There’s a ¥300 admission fee for adults and youth older than high school age, while entry to the illumination tunnel is free to students below high school age when accompanied by parents.  Until New Year’s Eve, the illumination is 6 p.m. ~ 10 p.m., with last entry at 9:30 p.m. On New Year’s Eve, the illumination is active until midnight, with last entry at 11:30 p.m.

The multi-purpose area at Okinawa Chura Sun Beach in Toyosaki Tomigusuku is the setting for the festivities on New Year’s Eve.  Okinawa local band Civilian Skunk will be live on stage at 11 p.m. to lead the special countdown to the new year.  On stage from 9 p.m. will be Eisa and traditional performing art to entertain visitors.  The fireworks at midnight will close the event.
