OTS CEO chosen to become new WUB chairman

The World Uchinanchu Business Association ‘WUB’, the business network of people from Okinawa and of Okinawan descent in the world, announced it has elected Yoshikazu Higashi its next chairman. Higashi, who is the CEO of Okinawa Tourist Service Inc, will become the 6th chairman of the organization when he takes up the post Jan. 1st, 2015, for a two-year term.

The current chairman Tameyasu Nagamine will become a special adviser.  Higashi says, “We at WUB would like to energize business, culture and human exchange.”

According to WUB officials, “We chose a person who is young, active and has a vision and communicative skills for the up-coming World Uchinanchu Festival next year.”

WUB network was established in 1997 as “WUB international” and then changed to its current name in 2008. Its head office is in Hawaii, and the association has 22 affiliates in 16 countries around the world. The association has 60 members in Okinawa out of a total of about 500.
