Man lying on ground ran over and killed

A middle-aged man was killed when he was ran over by a car while lying on the street in the evening of Jan. 20 in Urasoe City.

According to Urasoe Police, a 26-year-old businessman driving his car failed to notice 57-year-old Katsuhiro Tomori who was lying on the ground at the entrance of an apartment building parking lot in Uchima, Urasoe City, about 11:15 p.m. As the businessman turned onto the parking lot, he ran over the man. The driver told police that he did not see the man lying on the ground in the dark.

Tomori was taken to a hospital unconscious but died shortly afterwards.  The police are investigating the reason why Tomori was lying on the ground in front of the parking lot in the first place.
