Politicians join demonstration marking 200 days of protest

Protest activities organized by people opposing the construction of the replacement base for MCAS Futenma in Henoko, marked the 200th day of the protests on Jan. 22nd.

In the morning of the same day, a total of 50 people, including Okinawan members of the Japanese Parliament Diet, and members of prefectural and municipal assemblies, joined in the sit-in protest in front of the main gate of Camp Schwab, in order to express their opposition to the construction of the new base.

The protest activities by the assembly members continued through the weekend.  On Sunday, more than 100 members of the Diet, and prefectural and municipal assemblies opposing the relocation attended the protest demonstration.

ignorant fools “50 people, including Okinawan members of the Japanese Parliament Diet, and members of prefectural and municipal assemblies, joined in the sit-in protest in front of the main gate of Camp Schwab, in order to express their opposition to the construction of the “NEW BASE”,
when there is no new base but an expansion of an existing base to accommodate the closing of another and a few others more. This only goes to show what kind of government Japan has when it allows its own members to conduct such activities without even knowing what is going on. How can this government ever be trusted if it’s own politicians aren’t fully aware of situations.

The issue is they no longer want US bases here on Okinawa. Onaga said himself that he has no issues with Americans or the US bases but he feels other parts of Japan should share the burden of hosting bases, not only Okinawa. I agree with his stance but it looks like this extended base is here to stay.

The “they” are the 1% who own the majority of the money in the Ryukyu Islands. The only care about land development for tourism of which is profitable to a selected few, construction company owners and pocketed politicos. Onega is a liar, if he says he has no issues with Americans or the US bases. Besides he not a natural Ryukan but Japanese descendent. The actual originals support the bases fully. Be careful of who you support it may bite you where you dont’ want.
