Confrontation on ocean off Henoko coast continues

The confrontation between the Japan Coast Guard and protesters on boats and canoes continues offshore of the coast of Henoko.

According to local press reports, the coast guard towed 13 boats with 19 protesters about four kilometers offshore on Feb. 3, and released them. Protesters claim that some coast guard members jumped into the ocean in order to grab protesters’ boats, causing some of the demonstrators to fall overboard. They also say that sometimes the coast guard’s inflatable boats push the protesters’ canoes or officers of the coast guard jump into canoes causing them to capsize.

In front of the gate of Camp Schwab, a woman in her 60s was slightly injured on her head and right hand in a scuffle with police, requiring a week to heal.

these idiots should be protesting something worthwhile, like the planned mining of minerals off Kume island that is surely to have a “real” long and sea bottom changing experience.

Henoko is worth it. And its great to see there are still people fighting for it. Or do you really think there is need for another base in Okinawa ?

You can have Henoko and when the Chinese Army drives their tanks through your cities, and marches down your roads, you will be too late. Leftism in Okinawa is out of control.

Frankly speaking Okinawa might better of with the Chinese then what the US or Japanese doing for them.

          • Aluminum Fax

That is such a pathetic reply. Typical flawed leftist ideology behind your frank words there.

what new base stupid, the one they are protesting is already an existing and so closing the base and expanding one is far better than doing nothing at all. They get the Futema area back. Hell if it was up to me piss and Richard Nixon, I would never have given Okinawa back and instead take it from the Japanese and made Okinawa real US property right in the back door of Asia as a token just like the prized 4 Great Presidents carved in the Black Hills.

I wouldn’t worry to much as Japan will soon enough be part of the motherland China no thanks to the super mega rich and business leaders who would sell or may have already for more yen. What new base, there is no new base just expansion of one and closing a real base and reducing the footprint on the island. Be lucky that my generation wasn’t in power at the time of land reclamation as it never would have happened and instead claimed the entire country of Japan as spoils of war and made them into US citizens.

Yes. Glad you got no power (then and now) . But many of your redneck friends are still here, and its time to rid of them too replace them with your dearly loved chinese friends.

Oh but your wrong, we do have power and more so today than you realize because you’re living in a liberal fantasy land. Japan is inline with its destiny which will eventually be annexed under Chinese rule and will pay tribute to the motherland.
