Demonstration in front of U.S. consulate on Thursday

A local citizens’ group opposing the relocation of MCAS Futenma to Henoko held a demonstration in front of the U.S. Consulate General in Urasoe City, at noon yesterday.

Specifically, the group planned to launch a complaint against Alfred R. Magleby, the United States Consul General, Naha, about the construction of the relocation base for MCAS Futenma at Henoko, and the on-going helipad construction in the Takae district of Higashi Village.

About 70 people took part in the demonstration.  They expressed their opposition against the construction at Henoko and Takae, and called for a halt in placing concrete blocks on the seabed off the coast of Henoko, and demanded the removal of the block that have already been installed.

In addition, they also demanded an apology to people of Okinawa of what they called insulting comments by Capt Caleb D. Eames, the deputy public affairs officer at Marine Corps Bases on Okinawa.

Great place to protest idiots. I’m sure the 3 employees at the consulate who are ironically Okinawa give a flying butt-crumb.
