Yoshimoto to open ‘HAPINAHA’ entertainment emporium

Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd, the largest and oldest entertainment management agency in Japan, has announced that it’s launching two new entertainment ventures in Naha on Mar, 12th.

According to Yoshimoto, ‘Okinawa Omoro Haunted House’ and ‘Yoshimoto Okinawa Kagetsu’ Comedy Theater will open in its new entertainment emporium called ‘HAPINAHA.’  The facility is located in the former building of Okinawa Mitsukoshi Department Store that was one of the biggest department stores on Okinawa and closed at the end of September last year.

The new venues are scheduled to be open 365 days a year, and the company estimates that about 300,000 people would visit the haunted house annually. It expects about 150,000 to attend the theater.

The haunted house will be a large-scale facility with a floor space of about 2,000 square meters from the 3rd to 6th floor of the building and with a capacity of 1,056 visitors per day. According to the plan, it could take up to 35 minutes to walk through the haunted house.  Comedians from Yoshimoto Kogyo are will staff the house as ghosts and other ghouls inhabiting the haunted house. Tickets to the haunted house are planned to cost ¥1,500 for an adult.

The ‘Okinawa Kagetsu’ Comedy Theater is scheduled have a comedy show three times a day.  The theater has 189 seats, and advance tickets for weekday shows are ¥2,000. Tickets on weekends and holidays will be ¥2,500.

Yoshimoto Kogyo has produced many nationwide popular comedians from Okinawa. Yoshimoto Kogyo President Nobuhiro Mizutani explains that, “This facility will provide both scary and funny times.  We would like it to contribute a boost to the local economy.”
