China Airlines to start regular Taipei – Ishigaki flights

China Airlines announced Mar. 11th the start of regular flights between Ishigaki and Taipei during this summer. The flights are scheduled to run two round trips per week from April 1st through October 24th.

The opening of the new route will increase the total number of flights connecting Okinawa with Taiwan, including routes connecting Naha to Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, to 25 per week. The company has run charter flights between Ishigaki and Taipei during the last year summer season, which led to an increase in demand for tourism. Thanks to the increase in the number of tourists, the company made a decision last August to change the charter flights into regular flights.

China Airlines plans to use Boeing 787-800 aircraft for the route with a capacity of 158 seats. The first flight leaves from Taipei for Ishigaki on April 1st, and the flights then continue on every Wednesday and Saturday.
