Weekend’s races promise plenty of action, excitement and all the other trappings of a professional motocross race for the first time on Okinawa in 15 years.

Professional motorcyclists from mainland Japan will join Okinawan bikers this weekend for the first professional All-Star Motocross competitions on the island in 15 years.

13 professional racers take part in the men’s championship race on Sunday while 11 women start in their own contest.

More than 5,000 spectators are expected as the Nago All-Star Motocross takes place Saturday and Sunday at ImaNAGO Cross Field, a race track at 1084 Yofuke, Nago City.  Open practice runs take place Saturday from 1 p.m. ~ 5 p.m , while Sunday is dedicated to professional championship runs 9 a.m. ~ 5 p.m.  Thirteen racers will start the main Sunday race, while 11 racers go against each other in the Women’s Class, also on Sunday.

Tickets are ¥3,000, and are good for both days.  Elementary school age children and younger are admitted free.  Parking for cars and motorcycles is permitted only at Nago Wharf.  Shuttle busses will leave to the race track every ten minutes beginning at 7 a.m.  Races begin at 10 a.m., and organizers recommend spectators come early.  Tickets are available at most bike shops, as well as FamilyMarts, and imaNAGO website link to FamilyMart e+ website.
