Skymark to scrap Naha-Yonago flights from Sep. 1st
Skymark Airlines that is currently in bankruptcy protection under civil rehabilitation proceedings announced Mar. 4th its intention to discontinue the route between Naha and Yonago in Tottori Prefecture, from Sep. 1st.
It is unclear whether and when the route could be restarted. A Skymark spokesman explained that as the route is unprofitable, the company decided to close it. However, he added that when the company recovers from the slumping business, it could be possible for the route to be reopened again.
On the other hand, the company plans to increase fights between Naha and Kobe with expected relatively high passenger volume by one daily round trip. Skymark launched the route between Naha and Yonago in April 2014 and, according to the company, it has remained filled on average at 44.3 % of the capacity through January 2015.
