Elderly tourist falls overboard from high speed Ishigaki ferry
An elderly man fell overboard from a high-speed ferry on the way from Ohara Port on Iriomote Island to Ishigaki Port, Tuesday morning.
According to Ishigaki Coast Guard the man, a tourist in his 90’s visiting Okinawa, fell overboard while the ferry was running at full speed out on the ocean. A second high-speed ferry running on the same route rescued the man shortly afterwards, and he was taken to a hospital where he remains unconscious and in serious condition.
The Ishigaki Coast Guard continues investigating the reason he fell into the ocean.
