Onaga meets Lt. Gen Wissler, Consul General Magleby
Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga visited Camp Courtney in Uruma City and had a closed door meeting with Lt. Gen. John Wissler, the Okinawa Area Coordinator and Alfred Magleby, the Counsul General in Naha, in the afternoon of Apr. 7th
According to a person familiar with the meeting, it lasted for about an hour, and was not for a request or protest but the governor explained to the Area Coordinator and Consul General the duty of the recently appointed prefectural correspondent in Washington C.D., and his planned trip to the U.S., and asked for their cooperation.
The governor told that he wants to meet U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy before his trip to the U.S. later this month in order to convey her in person his thoughts about the new base construction in Henoko.
Prefectural officials have not made public any details of the meeting.
