The female baby elephant born March 7th to the Indian elephant Ryuka at Okinawa Kodomo-no Kuni Zoo has a name.

The public was invited to make suggestions for a name to the newborn, and the naming ceremony held at the zoo on Sunday.

From now on, the baby elephant is known by the name Rubi. The name was chosen among those suggested by the public. Rubi was the most suggested from the public.

Rubi was born in March 7th, and has grown to weigh 200 kg by now and, accoding to zoo officials, is growing and healthy.
