Onaga meets press before trip to U.S.

Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga held press conferences at the Japan National Press Club and the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo on May 20th, prior to his departure for a trip to the U.S. to press his case on May 27th.

At both venues he expressed his thoughts against the base construction at Henoko. This was the first time for Onaga to have a press conference with overseas media.

At the meetings governor Onaga aimed at making his intentions clear ahead of his travel to the U.S. Both conferences lasted about an hour and included question and answering sessions.

141 media correspondents from 20 countries were packed into the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan, while 238 members of the media came to Japan National Press Club to hear what Onaga had to say.
