A female vocational school female student was killed when she was run over by a 10-ton truck, Monday afternoon.

According to Ishikawa Police, 18-year-old Sae Ohara from Tomigusuku City was riding her moped towards Nago on Highway 58 in Nakama, Nago City, in the afternoon of May 25th, when she somehow fell under the truck that was overtaking her, and the rear wheel of the truck ran over her.

Ohara was taken to a hospital in cardiac and respiratory arrest, where she died shortly afterwards.

The site of the accident is a one-lane road curing lightly to the left. Overtaking another vehicle is prohibited at the site, and Ishikawa Police arrested the 52-year-old driver of the truck.

Police investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
