The Azama Sun Sun Beach Festival is an annual beach event that is held for the fourth time this year. It also marks the 15th anniversary of the beach itself.

Naha club Gold Disc in-house band Dynamites belts out 50’s and 60’s tunes in the evening of the beach party.

The festival has a variety of events designed to entertain visitors of all ages.  To begin with, there is a classic car exhibition on the parking area.  Enthusiasts for old cars will get together from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Besides the classic rides, a variety of utility vehicles participate in the event, including a police patrol car, police motorcycle, fire truck and power shovel, which will be on display. Visitors can try sitting on the driver’s seat for free for pictures or just for fun.

A beach dash contest starting at 2 p.m. will determine who’s the fastest man or woman in the sand.

A swimsuit beauty pageant will take place starting at 3:30 p.m. The winner of the pageant will be on the cover of the popular, long-established local photo magazine ‘Okinawa Graph’.

A karaoke contest takes place from 4:30 p.m.

To top the day off, the in-house band of the Gold Disc club in Matsuyama, Naha, the Dynamites, will belt out a live music performance of 50’s and 60’s rock’n’roll, starting 7:20 p.m.

Fireworks will close the event about an hour later starting around 8:20 p.m.

Azama Sun Sun Beach Festival takes place on Sunday, Jun. 28th, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. In case of rain, the event is postponed to July 12th. Azama Sun Sun Beach is free.
