Pair of 14-year-olds nabbed for robbery
Naha Police arrested a girl and a boy who both go to the same junior high school in the southern part of the island, Thursday. Both are 14 years old.
According to Naha Police, the two are suspected of robbing a 44-year-old business man’s wallet containing ¥33,000 in cash on a street in Asato, Naha City, around 2:30 a.m. on May 27th.
Investigators say the girl went to talk to the businessman saying, “Let’s play together. How much money do you have?” The businessman then let her take a look at his wallet because she insisted that she wanted to see for herself. She then snatched the wallet and threw it to the boy who had been standing a few feet away.
Police suspect the girl and boy had hatched the ploy to rob someone. They are also investigating whether they have been involved in reported cases targeting junior and high school students, in which the same tactics had been used.
