Naha District Court has sentenced a 28-year-old airman to one year in prison for an assault and causing a bodily injury. The sentence is suspended for three years.

The Naha District Court handed down its verdict ion Jul. 21st. According to court ruling, TSgt Jereth Adrian Davis was found guilty of assaulting a 23-year-old Japanese university student in an elevator in April in Okinawa City. A witness saw Davis beating the student on the face when the elevator stopped and its door opened, and called the police.

Davis was arrested at the scene but denied the charges when questioned. However, the court disagreed and found Davis guilty.
