Water in dams still below average after Chan-hom
Although typhoon Chan-hom did not hit Okinawa main island directly, it still brought a fair amount of much needed rainfall.
According to Okinawa Prefecture Enterprize Bureau, the water volume in Okinawa’s eleven dams had increased 8.2 percent in one day from Jul. 10th to 11th. Before the typhoon, the water level in the dams had decreased below 60 percent of the capacity as of Jul. 6th, but risen to 66.4 percent as of now. However, that’s still 13.8 percent below an average year.
