Weekend festivals cancelled or postponed
Because of the approaching typhoon Halola, the 12th typhoon of the season in the Western Pacific, organizers of most of the eight major festivals that were scheduled for this weekend have decided to cancel or postpone the events.
The 32th Tomigusuku Festival that was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday is cancelled.
The Nago Summer Festival is cancelled, as is the Chatan Seaport Festival that was already re-scheduled once to this weekend from two weeks ago. Organizers finally decided to scrap the event altogether this year instead of re-scheduling it once more.
A drag car race that was to take place this weekend on Izena has been cancelled.
The Kin Festival, also scheduled for the weekend, is canceled on Saturday, but will take place on Sunday only, with event schedule adjusted accordingly.
Both The Ginoza Village Industrial Fair and the Ginoza Commerce and Industry Association Festival, which were to take pace over the weekend are postponed, but the date is to be determined later.
And finally, the Sunday’s Kanna Dam Festival is postponed. A new date has not been determined yet. The Science Festival at Chatan Nirai Center is rescheduled to the afternoon of Aug. 6th and 7th.
