A passerby discovered a newborn baby girl in a supermarket plastic bag on a property of a prefecture housing project in Gushikawa, Uruma City, in the afternoon of Sep. 21st.

According to Uruma Police, the baby was completely naked in the bag that was obviously discarded on a grassy area next to a parking lot. She was taken to a hospital where she was checked and found to be in good health.

Police was searching for a parent or parents of the baby making inquiries in the neighborhood, and on Sep. 24, a young girl turned up at a Uruma police station claiming to be the mother. Police is still investigating the incident to make sure the girl indeed is the mother. Her name has not been released since she is a minor.
