Oliver Stone weighs on Henoko plan, Abe’s security bills

Oliver Stone, a well-known American movie director, held a press meeting Sep. 16th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City criticizing both the Japanese and the U.S. governments for forcing ahead with the MCAS Futenma relocation plan to Henoko in Nago.

Stone stressed the beauty of the ocean in Oura Bay where he visited in 2013. He criticized the U.S. Government and the U.S. military bases on Okinawa for having made a mess of the seas around Okinawa. He said an additional base would surely increase in the pollution of the sea.

In addition, Stone pointed out that the Abe administration has not listened to the public opinion that is strongly opposing Abe’s security legislation, and expressed concern on what he said is a “very dangerous situation of the Abe administration to be a slave to the U.S. Government.”
