San-A planning large-scale shopping center to Ishikawa

The Okinawa Prefectural Enterprise Bureau gave a notice to Uruma City that it has entered into negotiations of land sales contract with San-A Co., Ltd., a major local supermarket and department store chain on Okinawa.

According to sources familiar with the matter, San-A is planning to construct a large-scale shopping center on the site of a water purification plant in Ishikawa, Uruma City, and the land becomes vacant.

The land area of the site is 43,000 square meters, about the same as San-A Nishihara City in Nishihara Town. San-A will progress to negotiate the sale price and land acquisition deal with the Okinawa Prefectural Government and individual landowners.

Uruma City has planned to develop the site and surrounding areas into an integrated center of commercial facilities and offices after the purification plant vacates it, and has asked proposals from developers interested in taking advantage of the land since August. However, the OPG has stated that it would like to conclude the preliminary land sale and construction contracts within this year.
