Floating playgrounds provide fun for whole families
Anyone who has recently visited beaches at some of Okinawa’s bigger resorts has noticed that many of them sport huge floating playgrounds anchored a few meters offshore from the beach.
They feature giant slides, climbing walls and fantastic balloons and floats, which provide a play area where only a visitor’s imagination sets the limits to fun.
One of the companies responsible of introducing these floating playgrounds to Okinawa is a company named US. PARK that sells, leases and, in some cases, even operates the set-ups for the resorts.
The man behind US. PARK is Yasushi Masumoto, who says, “I really like to watch kids play with our equipment with a big smile on heir faces. Sometimes I hear from families visiting Okinawa, whose kids say the beach playground at their resort is the best thing they experienced on Okinawa. It really gives me pleasure!”
Although many of these floats look like they were aimed to create a dreamland for kids, they actually are not only for kids but also for adults who seem to become kids again as soon as they venture to try one of these ocean playground setups.
Although the floats can be huge, they are all very safe. First of all, anyone falling off from the float ends up in water, and at all resort beaches lifeguards are on duty watching the kids play, ready for action when necessary.
In addition to water playgrounds, US. PARK provides many other kinds of leisure related equipment, including street stalls for festivals, bungee trampolines, bounce houses, wall crashers and much more. The company main office is located in the Central Bowling building just behind Plaza House Shopping Center, where it operates one of its other mainstay businesses, karaoke rooms.
