Kagoshima Bank, a regional bank based in Kagoshima Prefecture, opened its first branch office on Okinawa in Mekaru, Naha City, with an opening ceremony on Monday.

This marks the first time for a regional bank from outside of the prefecture to launch a branch office in Okinawa since the end of the war. The Kagoshima Bank has evaluated the economic growth, increasing population and number of tourists of Okinawa, and is expecting demand for loans to individuals and companies to grow accordingly.

The bank plans to start with offering deposit and loan services to individuals, later expanding its services to businesses.

According to branch officials, more than 200 customers visited the store and 40 of them had a consultation on the opening day of the branch.
