A mini car hit a 6-year-old boy on Route 329 in Yonabaru, Yonabaru Town, Sunday morning. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he remains in a reportedly critical condition.

According to Yonabaru Police, the boy was crossing the street at a crosswalk against a red traffic signal. The accident site is a straight stretch of the road with good visibility both ways. A 45-year-old man who drove the mini car told police that he did not realize the boy was crossing the street at all. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
